Therapeutic Recreation Department
Position: Recreation Therapist
Full-time
Hours of Work: 9-5pm with some holiday and weekend work
Requirements: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or eligible to sit for NCTRC exam with the achievement of the National Council Therapeutic Recreation Certification within one year of employment. Computer knowledge helpful but no mandatory, CPR certification required prior to or within 3 months of employment.
Professional Competencies:
a. Therapeutic Recreation Services: ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programming to restore, remediate, rehabilitate or maintain physical, social, cognitive and emotional functioning
b. Assessment Skills: ability to conduct an ongoing assessment in an effort to collect systematic, comprehensive, and accurate data to complete TR assessment, Minimum Data Set, Resident Assessment protocol resulting in an individualized plan of care relative to therapeutic recreation.
c. Documentation: ability to evaluate and document resident outcome to TR interventions
d. Care Planning: ability to write a problem focused plan of care with measure goals and individualized interventions

The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of two years experience within the last five years in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services, one of which was full-time, in a patient activities program in a health care setting and one year’s experience working with a frail or elderly population. Come Live and Work near the Delaware Beaches! A 237 bed CCRC in Seaford Delaware is seeking a full time CTRS for the position of Director of Therapeutic Recreation. This is a new position and will be responsible for the development, successful implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive state-of-the-art program of therapeutic activites for the skilled care area. Will supervise the activities staff in independent living, assisted living, assisted living memory support unit, and the skilled care areas of the ccrc. Candidates must be CTRS certified with 3-5 years experience developing and implementing successful therapeutic activities programs for residents with dementia, preferably in a memory support unit. Must be a self-starter, knowledgeable of OBRA requirements and documentation in the skilled nursing setting, have a working knowledge of the MDS, and have excellent communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and experience with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint is preferred.
